Hawthorn – Several studies point to the use of hawthorn in mild heart failure. This plant acts as a cardiac tonic and antiarrhythmic, increasing the strength of cardiac contractions and decreasing cardiac excitability. Hawthorn also prevents myocardial infarction and aids cardiac recovery after a heart attack. It allows for more efficient dilation of the coronary arteries, thus increasing blood flow (nutrients and oxygen), improving conditions such as angina pectoris and hypertension. It has a positive effect on all blood vessels, increasing their resistance and preventing atherosclerosis, due to the high antioxidant power of its flavonoids.
