The regulatory microbiota is a group of beneficial bacteria that inhabit your gut. Its main components belong to the genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and its main function is to maintain order in your immune system and reduce inflammation.

These bacteria "negotiate" with the immune system so that it does not mistakenly attack its own cells (as happens in autoimmune diseases) and help calm unnecessary inflammatory responses.
