Originally derived from Southeast Asia and Australasia, Noni is now grown on several continents in nutrient-rich volcanic soil. Polynesians have used noni in traditional folk medicine for over 2,000 years. It is a highly bioavailable liquid that can be easily taken and integrated into any daily schedule.

  • Warnings
    Noni fruit has been used safely over 2,000 years of ethnobotanical practice¹ and is considered safe when used appropriately.¹⁶ After ingestion of Noni puree, the constituent scopoletin peaks at two hours, has a half-life of four hours, and is excreted in the urine.¹⁶˒¹⁸ Small clinical trials have used Noni without significant side effects,¹⁷˒¹⁸ although cases of nausea and abdominal discomfort have been reported with the use of dehydrated Noni fruit.¹⁸
    While there are case reports of hepatotoxicity, evidenced by elevated liver enzymes, these have mostly — though not exclusively — been attributed to multi-ingredient formulas or a previous history of liver toxicity.¹⁹–²¹ It remains unclear whether the hepatotoxicity was due to Noni, additional ingredients, potential contaminants, or other clinical history factors.¹⁹–²¹ In most cases, elevated liver enzyme levels returned to normal after discontinuation of Noni use.¹⁹˒²¹
    Noni may have additive effects with antihypertensive medications.¹⁶ It should be used with caution in cases of chronic kidney disease, as its potassium content may contribute to hyperkalemia.⁴ Due to its relatively high potassium content, approximately 56 mEq of potassium per liter, it should be used with caution in patients taking medications that may increase potassium levels, including potassium-sparing diuretics such as amiloride or spironolactone, ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril or captopril, and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) such as losartan or valsartan, due to the risk of hyperkalemia.¹⁶˒²²
    Taking Noni in conjunction with potentially hepatotoxic medications may, theoretically, increase the risk of hepatotoxicity.¹⁶˒²⁰ There is one case report regarding decreased effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin) associated with Noni use; however, it is noted that Noni was part of a product combined with more than 115 other substances, many of which contained high levels of vitamin K.¹⁶˒²³
    Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be avoided, as there is insufficient reliable scientific evidence to prove its safety in these situations.¹⁶
    Safety is not documented in pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor in children under 3 years of age, due to insufficient safety studies.
  • Dosage and administration
    Add 15 to 30 drops to 120 mL of water and wait one minute before drinking. Take 2-4 times daily, or for maximum support every 15 minutes, or as directed by your physician.

    How to Use
    Keep bottle tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature (59-86°F or 15-30°C). Shake well before use. Using the liquid dropper, add drops to a 4 oz glass of water, not distilled or reverse osmosis. Do not put drops in hot water. Let the drops sit in the water for at least one minute before drinking. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Discontinue use if adverse reactions occur. Keep out of reach of children.
