Designs for Health's Emulsi-D3 Synergy is a concentrated and highly bioavailable liquid vitamin D formulation, offering a generous 2,000 IU (50 mcg) of vitamin D3 per 1 ml serving (one full dropper), along with two forms of vitamin K, a complementary and synergistic nutrient to vitamin D. Emulsi-D3 Synergy uses a natural, self-emulsifying technology that allows for rapid and complete dispersion in liquid.

Both vitamins D and K are essential for bone and arterial health and for maintaining a healthy immune system.

A large proportion of the US population has suboptimal vitamin D levels, and vitamin K provides critical synergies with vitamin D. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. However, for proper bone strength and health, it is not enough to just
absorb calcium. Calcium needs to be directed to the right place, and that is where vitamin K2 comes in. It acts as a "traffic cop" for calcium, helping to transport it to the bones and teeth (where it should be) and helping to channel it away from depositing in soft tissues, such as artery walls, or in joints or kidneys (places where it should not be).

It is difficult to get adequate amounts of vitamin D from the modern diet, and our busy, hectic lifestyles mean that many of us do not get enough vitamin D from its primary source: sunlight exposure. Ultraviolet light from the sun interacts with cholesterol in our skin, converting it into vitamin D (with the help of the kidneys), but this occurs best at certain times of the year and at certain latitudes. Other situations may increase the body's need for vitamin D. For example, those with compromised digestion and intestinal function may have difficulty absorbing vitamin D from food, as do those with impaired fat absorption, since vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient. Additionally, vegetarians may find it difficult to maintain adequate vitamin D levels because animal-based foods are the only natural dietary source of this vitamin. (Vitamin D2, created by irradiating plant foods, may not provide the same physiological effects as animal-derived vitamin D3.) Animal-based foods are also the only source of vitamin K2, except in small amounts in certain fermented vegetables.
