Butibifidus 60caps - NPro
NPRO Butibifidus offers a dual source of butyrate with double encapsulation, to be released in the colon. The goal is to provide colonocytes with their main energy metabolite, SCFA (short-chain fatty acid). It contains 5 types of bifidobacteria, totaling 20 billion CFUs, and a postbiotic composed of tributyrin.
Main Indications:
- Adjuvant treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases: irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's, and ulcerative colitis; in reducing intestinal hyperpermeability.
- Prevention of disorders related to a low-fiber diet: Constipation and slow intestinal transit, diverticulosis, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and colon cancer.
- Compatible with SIBO, FODMAP, and low-histamine diets.
Furthermore, Butibifidus uses a delayed-release capsule, to be released only in the colon. The goal is to provide colonocytes with their main energy metabolite, SCFA (short-chain fatty acid).
The 6 types of bifidobacteria present, totaling 20 billion CFUs (colony-forming units) are:
- Bifidobacterium breve CCFM1025 5×10^9; Bifidobacterium adolescentis CCFM1061 4×10^9; Bifidobacterium adolescentis CCFM1062 4×10^9; Bifidobacterium longum YS108R 3×10^9; Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis Bb-12 2×10^9; Bifidobacterium bifidum CCFM1063 2×10^9.
Most of these produce propionate and acetate, the latter being a substrate that induces the formation of butyrate (cross-feeding).
Additionally, it contains Vitamins B2, B3, C, E, and banana fiber. Since the capsule is delayed-release, when the vitamins reach the colon, they have a prebiotic effect. In this way, they contribute to supporting the growth of bifidobacteria and others that also produce butyrate (F. prauznitzii, Roseburia…). On the other hand, banana fiber, suitable for a low-FODMAP diet and possessing a high content of resistant starch type II, reaches the colon intact. As such, it acts as a prebiotic substrate for bifidobacteria, Roseburia, F. prausnitzii, Akkermansia; the main producers of SCFA.
Butyrate is a product naturally produced endogenously by beneficial bacteria that colonize our gastrointestinal tract through the fermentation of non-digestible fibers. Studies suggest that, like all probiotics, bifidobacteria confer health benefits to the host when administered in adequate amounts, presenting multifaceted probiotic effects.
In particular, adequate levels of butyric acid can support the integrity and functionality of the colon, as well as intestinal homeostasis.
