MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
One of the primary virtues of the human condition is the ability to move.
Movement is achieved through the attachment of muscles to bones via tendons, which move the bones through contraction, producing body movements. The joints, formed between two or more bones, enable and control movement between them.
Articular cartilage covers the bony ends in some joints, allowing the bones to move with minimal friction. Ligaments fix bones to each other, limiting movement.
There are various diseases and conditions that involve a combination of mechanical, cellular, and biochemical processes that can affect the balance and functionality of the Musculoskeletal System.
Rheumatic diseases are among the oldest and most common in humanity. They have an approximate prevalence of 20 to 30%, rank 3rd in costs arising from medication consumption, and are the primary cause of temporary disability.
Musculoskeletal system disorders are major causes of chronic pain and physical disability.
The AGIFLEX® line consists of a set of three Food Supplements: capsules, drinkable ampoules, and powder. CARTILAGE Cartilage is a special type of connective tissue that has a firm, but not rigid, extracellular matrix. Cartilage consists of cells called chondrocytes and an extensive extracellular matrix composed of fibers and other substances. It is the extracellular matrix with its fibers that not only gives resistance to the cartilage but also allows it to support weight and achieve considerable tensile strength. Collagen, hyaluronic acid, proteoglycans, and other glycoproteins are the main macromolecules present in all types of cartilage matrix.
Type II collagen represents about 50% of the total weight of cartilage. Of the non-collagenous proteins that form cartilage, the most important are glycosaminoglycans (GAGs).
These polymeric complexes form huge, feather-shaped, highly filamentous macromolecular proteins that bind to large amounts of water and can function as a spring by storing energy when compressed.
Cartilage proteoglycans contain chondroitin sulfate and keratan sulfate, covalently linked to a protein core.
These core proteins, in turn, are the binding points for GAGs. Most of them are covalently associated with long molecules of hyaluronic acid, forming proteoglycan aggregates (aggrecans) that interact with collagen.
JOINT PATHOLOGIES OSTEOARTHRITIS
Osteoarthritis (OA), also known as degenerative joint disease, is a slow process of joint destruction that affects millions of people worldwide. The process usually begins when a problem occurs in the joint structures due to the stress to which the articular surface is subjected.
RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which joint inflammation occurs, typically involving both hands and feet, causing swelling, pain, and often leading to the destruction of the interior of the joint.
AGIFLEX is a Food Supplement based on Chondractiv™ (containing 55% Type II Collagen, 12% Chondroitin Sulfate, and 2% Hyaluronic Acid), which is a patented combination of elements with a marked chondroprotective action.
CHONDRACTIV™
It is a natural, patented ingredient with clinical trials that provides a complex matrix of elements: Hydrolyzed Type II Collagen, Chondroitin Sulfate, and Hyaluronic Acid. Together, these elements provide nutritional support to cartilage tissue in crucial areas such as joints, providing and contributing to keeping them healthy.
COLLAGEN
Collagen is a structural protein necessary to promote the integrity and tensile strength of connective tissues, bone, and cartilage. Thus, supplementation with collagen helps to reduce joint crepitus, reduce inflammation, and replenish collagen levels that decrease with age. Type II Collagen is the main form of collagen found naturally in articular cartilage, but for better efficacy, the collagen is hydrolyzed, making it more bioavailable.
CHONDROITIN SULFATE
Chondroitin sulfate is one of the natural glycosaminoglycans composed of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine. It is one of the main components of the extracellular matrix, being most frequent in the aggrecan structure of cartilage. It has an impact on processes associated with cartilage degeneration, the promotion of the synthesis of proteoglycans lost in cartilage degeneration, the reduction of the expression of genes associated with proteolytic enzymes, and, in combination with glucosamine, the reduction of subchondral bone resorption.
HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a common component of synovial fluid and the extracellular matrix. It is a natural, linear-chain polysaccharide of high molecular mass, composed of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine and glucuronic acid residues. In synovial fluid, the high concentration of HA provides the lubrication necessary for the joint, serving as a shock absorber, a friction reducer between 2 bones, and a reducer of joint wear.
