The list of foods that contain histamine or promote its release is long, ranging from cured cheeses and smoked meats to various fruits, chocolate, and alcoholic beverages like red wine.

The endogenous enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO) is responsible for the degradation of histamine in the body.
However, for many people, this degradation process can be difficult. There are several causes for reduced DAO activity, but they all lead to the same result: discomfort after consuming various foods, caused by insufficient histamine degradation.

There is not always a direct deficiency of the DAO enzyme — sometimes it is an imbalance between the intake and the ability to break down dietary histamine that causes the symptoms.

Biogena DAOZym® is an innovative combination product that combines the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO) with the amino acid L-glutamine.
With DAOZym®, the DAO enzyme can be supplied to the body as needed, contributing to better tolerance of histamine-rich foods.

DAOZym® also contains the amino acid L-glutamine in its bioidentical L-form. Thus, it also represents an optimal source of additional glutamine, in addition to the diet and endogenous synthesis.
