Shiitake ( Lentinula edodes ) is known to many as a culinary mushroom, however, it also has medicinal effects when harvested correctly. Shiitake has been used to boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and lower cholesterol levels.
Shiitake has a special place in the supplement regimen during cold season, as its main bioactive compounds of interest include beta-glucans and L-ergothioneine.
Shiitake mushrooms are grown on a covered farm in rural Finland, in Karjalohja. They grow on sustainably harvested birch trees, PEFC/FSC certified.
To make Kaapa's potent organic shiitake tincture, we use only the mushroom's fruiting bodies, without mycelium. It is extracted using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) technology, as well as alcohol and hot water. With this innovative extraction method, we aim to maximize the bioavailability of the bioactive compounds found in shiitake.
