Prebiota Resist 150g - NPro

NPRO's Prebiota Resist combines resistant starch types 1, 2, 3, and 4. Resistant starch is one of the main food sources for the gut microbiota and, unlike other prebiotics, it is very well tolerated by the digestive system.

  • Fibersol® – type 4 resistant starch, obtained through chemical-free partial hydrolysis of corn
  • F-Biotic™ – type 2 resistant starch, derived from dehydrated banana powder
  • Starmeric® – type 3 resistant starch, isolated from the root of Curcuma longa
  • Tigernut flour – type 1 resistant starch, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients
  • Carob flour – fiber

Resistant Starch and Microbial Diversity

The gut microbiota is formed by billions of microorganisms that participate in essential body functions, such as digestion, the production of beneficial substances, and the maintenance of intestinal balance.

To remain balanced, the microbiota needs to receive fermentable substrates, mainly fibers and/or resistant starches (which behave like fibers), which are not digested in the small intestine and reach the colon intact.

Resistant starch has several advantages, as during fermentation it promotes the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)—molecules produced by the microbiota that are essential for the balance of the intestinal ecosystem and for nourishing the cells of our large intestine.

There are different types of resistant starch used by different bacterial groups. Therefore, providing various types of resistant starch can help promote microbial diversity and maintain a balanced intestinal ecosystem.

That is why NPRO's Prebiota Resist combines 4 different types of resistant starch – sourced from natural ingredients such as green banana, turmeric, corn, and Valencian tigernut – along with fiber from carob, which also makes it suitable for people with digestive sensitivities.
