Tulsi, belonging to the Lamiaceae family, is native to tropical Asia and has spread as a cultivated plant. It is an erect, many-branched shrub, about 30 to 60 cm tall, with opposite green or purple leaves, a strong aroma, and hairy stems. The leaves are oval, up to 4 cm long, with slightly serrated edges.
