Triphala is a tridoshic compound, as it pacifies Kapha, Pitta, and partially Vata. There are few herbs in Ayurveda that include all five distinct tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and pungent). The more concentrated the flavor, the more comprehensive and effective the formula for balancing the three doshas.
It is also known by the names Phalatrik or Vara (blessing) and Sreshtha (the best). It is a blessing in its true essence, as it is believed to care for the internal organs in the same way a mother cares for her children.
