Ergysport Recup 60cap - Nutergia

Nutergia's ERGYSPORT RECUP supports athletes in their muscle recovery. It's a scientifically dosed formula with minerals in the form of deacidifying salts (citrate, carbonate, bicarbonate) and vitamins. It contains magnesium, which contributes to normal muscle function (relieving cramps and muscle pain). This comprehensive formula was specifically developed for athletes whose muscles are heavily stressed during physical activity.

What causes cramps? What causes them, and where do they come from?

Cramps can have several causes and are often the result of a combination of several factors that disrupt the body and trigger the contraction of a muscle or group of muscles at rest:

  • Magnesium deficiency

  • Very acidified organism

  • Lack of hydration

  • Muscles overused

During sports, muscles produce acids, which are the cause of these imbalances. These acids (in a healthy body) are normally excreted through sweat, respiration, and urine. If the body is not sufficiently hydrated, these elimination pathways will be disrupted and will not function properly, which can cause cramps. Magnesium is also very important because it is directly involved in the nervous and cellular processes for contraction and, especially, for the relaxation of muscle fibers. Therefore, if magnesium levels are not adequate, muscle contraction can last for several seconds.

There are several types of cramps, each of which passes more or less quickly. The unpleasant sensation they cause (often described as a "burn") disappears after a few minutes.

What to do against muscle cramps (in the calves, legs, thighs, shoulders, back, arms,...)?

Some minerals are very useful for limiting the occurrence of muscle cramps: magnesium, calcium, and potassium play an important role in acid-base balance because these minerals are associated with salts (carbonate, bicarbonate, citrate, etc.), which are known to be deacidifying and, therefore, buffer the acids that are generated during exertion.

Magnesium contributes to normal energy metabolism, which provides energy to muscles during more or less intense exercise, and is also known to play an important role in proper muscle function, particularly muscle contraction and relaxation.

Ca2+ ions also play an important role in maintaining muscle tone and the excitability of muscle and nerve tissue.

Calcium, magnesium, and potassium all play a well-defined role in muscle cells. A deficiency or very low levels of these minerals can cause an electrolyte imbalance, which would explain these involuntary muscle contractions at rest.

To ensure the right amount of trace elements in the body and limit the occurrence of cramps, good hydration is necessary. Less intense exercise, stretching after training sessions, heat, and magnesium supplementation with ERGYSPORT RECUP are all factors that can be used to counteract these muscle weaknesses.

B vitamins

They don't really play a direct role in cramps, but they're still interesting, as they also contribute to good energy metabolism. Minor deficiencies in vitamins B1, B2, and B6 decrease aerobic performance.
Vitamin B1 is involved in both carbohydrate and branched-chain amino acid metabolism. Vitamin B2 is important in the metabolism of glucose, fatty acids, glycerol, and amino acids, for energy production, which is essential for muscles during exercise. One of the main functions of vitamin B6 is the metabolism of amino acids and proteins. Vitamin B6 requirements are determined in relation to protein intake and are therefore of paramount importance for athletes, who have increased protein needs.

All these vitamins are also of great interest because all cellular processes (also in the muscle) need B vitamins, and if one of them is missing, or if its level is too low, then this process will not function correctly, which can cause cramps.
