Description
Now's Ginkgo Biloba Double Strength is standardized to contain at least 24% ginkgoflavonglycosides and 6% terpene lactones. The extract comes from the leaves of the famous Ginkgo tree, with its dynamic history of populating the earth for millions of years.
This double strength product has twice as much ginkgo (120 mg) as in our regular strength product (60 mg).
Traditionally used as a cognitive tonic.
Studied in the prevention of Alzheimer's, improvement of short-term memory, depressive mood in the elderly and ability to concentrate.
Antioxidant action; with Siberian Ginseng.
Now's Ginkgo Biloba Double Strength is a highly concentrated, high-quality supplement specifically designed to support cognitive function. It contains Siberian ginseng and 120 mg of ginkgo biloba, double the amount of the regular product, in a 50:1 concentration and standardized to 24% ginkgo flavonoglycosides and 6% terpenic lactones. Ginkgo biloba has been used in Eastern medicine for over 1,000 years and is currently one of the most widely used herbal remedies in the world. It contains two active substances considered responsible for its effects on the body: flavonoids (ginkgoflavonoglycosides) and terpenes (ginkgolides and bilobalides). Flavonoids, as antioxidants, protect nerve cells, heart muscle, blood vessels, and retinal cells; terpenes have been shown to improve blood circulation by dilating blood vessels and reducing blood viscosity. Ginkgo Biloba thus presents potential benefits in terms of: insufficient arterial circulation, increasing resistance and decreasing vascular permeability.
It has peripheral vasodilatory and platelet aggregation inhibitory action, which can protect arteries, veins and capillaries and improve blood supply to tissues, as it has been shown to be capable of reducing vascular permeability, having anti-thrombotic, anti-schemic and anti-edematous activity (prevents swelling).
Studies point to improvements in short-term memory in the elderly and reasoning ability and concentration in young people, as it shows increased oxygenation and improved nutrition of neuronal tissues, through increased glucose and oxygen supply, which are essential for the normal functioning of the brain.
Now's Ginkgo Biloba Double Strength also prevents lipid peroxidation caused by free radicals, protecting brain cells and helping to prevent memory loss and the decline in cognitive functions that are linked to dementia and all the symptoms related to Alzheimer's disease.
Ginkgo Biloba has also been used in other pathologies such as: prevention of Atherosclerosis and thrombus formation; in ischemic heart disease (decreased blood supply to the Myocardium) and in Diabetes mellitus, notably in vascular complications; in intermittent claudication (pain in the legs that appears when walking, resulting from lack of oxygenation); tinnitus or buzzing (auditory sensation in the absence of any external sound); poor ocular circulation and headache caused by poor circulation.
Now's Ginkgo Biloba Double Strength has been supplemented with Siberian Ginseng or Eleutherococcus (Eleutherococcus sentincosus), a plant native to southeastern Russia and northern China, Korea, and Japan. Its roots have been used for over 4,000 years in Chinese medicine to improve overall health and restore memory. It is considered an adaptogenic plant, meaning it increases tolerance to various types of stress (physical, emotional, mental, and environmental). Traditional use demonstrates its ability to increase the body's resistance to disease (immunostimulant), balance endocrine functions, glucose metabolism, and hematopoiesis (the process of forming blood components).
At a vascular level, it has vasoprotective properties, reducing the permeability of capillary walls.
A study published in the journal “Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics” concluded that Siberian Ginseng safely improves the social and mental health of the elderly after four weeks of use.
Thus, Now's Ginkgo Biloba Double Strength can be an excellent adjuvant in situations of decreased intellectual performance, short-term memory loss, lack of concentration, cerebrovascular insufficiency; senile dementia and Alzheimer's; physical weakness; decreased work capacity, excessive stress and depressive states.
