SUN MUSHROOM
Blazein, a compound present in the Sun Mushroom (Agaricus blazei Murill), demonstrated cytotoxic and antiangiogenic capacity in human lung carcinoma cell lines (Itoh et al; 2008). Agaricus blazei extract promotes appetite and acts favorably in cases of alopecia, stability, emotional and general weakness in patients undergoing chemotherapy (Ahn et al; 2004).
MAITAKE
Grifola frondosa extract is capable of producing symptomatic improvement or cancer regression in 58.3% of patients with liver cancer (Kodama et al; 2002).
Furthermore, it reduces the number of metastatic nodules in the lung in animal models (Masuda et al; 2008).
Shiitake
Beta-glucan polysaccharides from Lentinula edodes are capable of reducing the viability of lung adenocarcinoma cells in combination with radiotherapy treatments (Lo et al; 2011). Similarly, similar effects were observed with proteins from this fungus (Liu et al; 2012).
Cordyceps
Bioactive compounds from Cordyceps (Cordyceps sp.) have strong antioxidant and cytotoxic activity against lung adenocarcinoma cell lines (Lee et al., 2015).
