Valerian

Valerian is a medicinal plant from the valerian family, also known as garden valerian, wild valerian, or garden heliotrope.

Its medicinal properties are concentrated in the root and rhizome: it is antispasmodic and calming, being useful in cases of insomnia, stress, anxiety, and distress; it increases levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that helps with relaxation and a more restful sleep.

Due to its antispasmodic action, valerian is recommended not only for the treatment of migraines but also for spasms and headaches. Thus, it is useful in cases of tachycardia, intestinal spasms, and stomach aches.
