Silymarin is the active compound found in the fruit of the Silybum Marianum plant, popularly known as Milk Thistle, which grows naturally throughout the Mediterranean. This plant was introduced to the United Kingdom by herbalists in the 16th century.

Milk thistle is considered one of the most widely studied herbs today, with over 300 scientific studies conducted on its chemistry and application. To ensure proper dosage, we use a standardized extract of mature seeds containing 200mg of silymarin per tablet.

Silymarin is composed of three isomers called silybin, silydianin, and silychristin, all classified as flavonolignans, with silybin being the most important component. It takes 8.5 grams of plant seeds to obtain 286 mg of milk thistle extract, the amount present in each of our pills (tablets).
