Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is known to many as a culinary mushroom; however, it also has medicinal effects when extracted correctly. Shiitake has been used to boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and lower cholesterol levels.

Shiitake holds a special place in supplementation regimens during cold season, as its main bioactive compounds of interest include beta-glucans and L-ergothioneine.

The shiitake is grown on an indoor farm in Karjalohja, Finland. It grows on sustainably harvested birch with PEFC/FSC certification.

To make Kaapa's potent organic shiitake tincture, only the mushroom fruiting bodies are used, with no mycelium. It is extracted using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) technology, as well as alcohol and hot water. With this innovative extraction method, we aim to maximize the bioavailability of the bioactive compounds found in shiitake.
