BioActive NAD+ Booster 60 tablets - Pharma Nord
BioActive NAD+ Booster from Pharma Nord consists of white tablets, each containing 250 mg of niacin in the form of nicotinamide and nicotinic acid. The recommended dose of BioActive NAD+ Booster is two to three tablets per day, which should be taken throughout the day. The supplement's formula was developed by Pharma Nord and is based on scientific research. The active ingredients in the tablets are released slowly, allowing for optimal absorption and utilization in the body.
Differences between niacin, NAD+ and NADH
There are several substances that serve as NAD precursors in the body, being converted through various biological processes. Examples of these precursors are nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).
NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a fundamental coenzyme for metabolism. NAD is found in all living cells and is called a dinucleotide because it is made up of two nucleotides joined by their phosphate groups. One nucleotide contains an adenine base and the other nicotinamide. NAD occurs in two forms: NAD+ (oxidized form) and NADH (reduced form).
NAD is classified as a coenzyme, meaning it is a substance that enables biochemical reactions in the body.
NAD, in both its oxidized and reduced forms, plays an important role when the cells' small power plants (the mitochondria) convert calories from food into energy. The citric acid cycle and the electron transport chain are fundamental steps in the cells' energy conversion. These processes produce the molecule ATP, which serves as the body’s "energy currency" for energy-intensive processes.
Niacin is converted into NAD
Niacin (in the form of nicotinamide and nicotinic acid) belongs to the group of B vitamins that are converted into NAD in the body. NAD is produced in the body through different metabolic pathways, such as from the amino acid tryptophan (de novo synthesis) or from niacin (Preiss-Handler synthesis). The body's natural production of NAD decreases as we age because these signaling pathways become less effective.
Prolonged-release formulation
Because niacin, like other B vitamins, is water-soluble, it can be absorbed rapidly in the intestine. However, water-soluble nutrients can be lost through diuretics such as caffeine, alcohol, and medication, as these increase the body's water elimination.
Niacin in a prolonged-release formula allows the compounds to be absorbed slowly into the bloodstream, ensuring a stable release and preventing large losses.
Packaging contains 60 tablets.
